El libro “Colibrí” Trochilidae mirabillia recopila las pinturas de picaflores realizadas durante el año 2013 por la artista Paula A Romero Ardila, quién se inspiro en estas increíbles especies para elaborar la obra. La obra se compuso como un diario de observaciones, acompañada de acuarelas, dibujos a lápiz y anotaciones sobre cada especie. Algunos de los apuntes escritos y dibujados “in situ”. Paula Andrea tiene un estilo de pintura “preciosista” , la técnica que emplea es minuciosa y refina los detalles y los gestos de cada especie. El comportamiento de la luz ha sido muy importante en toda su investigación, ya que se ha fijado el reto de plasmar en el papel las variaciones y transiciones cromáticas que reflejan el plumaje de los colibríes. Esta familia de aves tiene en sus plumas colores estructurales que solamente son perceptibles con la reflexión de los rayos solares y fluctúan de acuerdo a la posición de cada individuo. Las composiciones le dan importancia a las conductas y los hábitos de las aves; también se evidencian el dimorfismo sexual, la crianza así, cómo, algunas especies vegetales que son frecuentadas por los picaflores.

The book Colibrí: Trochilidae mirabillia collects the paintings of hummingbirds made in 2013 by the artist Paula A Romero Ardila, who was inspired by these incredible species to elaborate the artwork. The work was written and painted as a journal of observations, with watercolors and drawings in pencil. All the notes written and drawn "in situ" have served to enrich and complement the publication. The artwork done by Paula Andrea is "préciosité", a technique that is meticulous and has refining details and gestures. The compositions give importance to the behaviors and habits of each species; sexual dimorphism and breeding are evidenced. The juveniles in different states, the nest, as well as the plant species that hummingbirds visit. The artwork unfolds a universe of time and color; the artist seeks to capture in her paintings ephemeral moments in nature, common habits for birds, but strange and amazing for the human beings. The behavior of light has been very important in all the research, as the artist has set the challenge of translating on paper the variations and chromatic transitions reflected by the plumage of the species. This family of birds has in their feathers structural colors, only visible with the reflection of the solar rays and fluctuating according to the position of the individual.
